Meet Our Team Member: Kathy Saksa

By Kathy Saksa

My parents gave me (and my five siblings) the best example of hard work, dedication, and perseverance—values that became ingrained into my own life. My father provided for us, somehow managing to put all six of us through college by working his way up from mill worker to engineer at U.S. Steel. And before committing her time and energy to her husband and children, my mother was a registered nurse, serving and tending to her patients with wholehearted devotion. When it was time for me to start a career, I knew that whatever it was, I wanted to follow their shining example.

The Best Decision

After earning a bachelor’s degree in home economics education from Seton Hill University and a master’s degree in human resources management from St. Francis University, I spent my early-career years in various administrative and professional areas creating a diverse finance-related background—from insurance to banking to human resources. Even with this experience, I wasn’t specifically looking for a career in financial services. But when I met Ahmie Baum back in 2003 and joined his team, it turned out to be the best career decision I could have ever made.

Making an Impact

Here’s why: I get to work on a team with a mission to support clients with knowledge and guidance as they pursue their goals, helping them find the confidence to stay the course. As senior associate of client service, I get to work with individuals and families to make sure their unique needs are met, handling the administrative side of our firm. Whether it’s adding a professional touch to reports, answering questions, scheduling meetings, sending letters, or ordering supplies, I strive to carry it out with meaning and excellence because I know that what we provide impacts our clients’ lives, both today and in the future.

Building Relationships

There are countless reasons why I’m excited to go to work every day, but hands down, the best part is our clients. We have many long-time clients with whom I’ve had the pleasure of developing strong relationships. I love hearing about their lives and celebrating their victories. It’s both fulfilling and gratifying to be the friendly voice that responds to, understands, and prioritizes clients’ needs and requests, going the extra mile to make them feel cared for through special touches.

On a Personal Note

No matter how much joy I find in my job, my life isn’t all work and no play! I love living in a great city where I have easy access to enjoy all the parks, restaurants, stores, and cultural events Pittsburgh has to offer. When I’m not out exploring, you can find me spending time with friends, playing the piano, working on sewing projects, following true crime stories, and conquering jigsaw puzzles. Fun facts: I’m a loyal Taylor Swift fan and won’t deny my love for reality competition TV, especially The Bachelor and American Idol!
